Christmas Gifts For The Golf Lover
One of the best Christmas gifts is that golf season is over, at least that's how many women feel. When golf season ends, women suddenly get their husbands back - Saturday morning is once again time for both partners to work, not for the wife to work while the husband goes out to play... golf.
Although many women do not appreciate this reality, it is still true than golf Christmas gifts are a theme suddenly topping the charts. Some golfers are receiving monogrammed towels and other gadgets, some golfers receive a new carrying bag or a new set of clubs. One of my personal favorites are all the theme items such as golf balls with the name of the golfer's alma mater emblazoned on the ball itself. This type of personalized golfing Christmas gift has really taken off in the last decade. Golfing gifts are popping up everywhere from clocks to drinking mugs to throw blankets; golf gifts are not longer limited to things that can be used when golfing - no the essential is the icon, the motif, of the golfer.

Any Dad who's ever played golf has received Christmas gifts with the motif of the golfer; in today's world, there is no way to avoid this. Children see bookends with a golfer taking a swing 'Dad's gotta have that!!!' It's as though every Dad who's ever played a single round of golf played it with Tiger Woods... and won. Children see ties and belts with golfers on them and somehow think that Dad will like them. Socks, mittens, scarves, seat covers, you name it; if it's been invented with a golfing motif, Christmas gift shoppers will pick it up. Remember that pencil holder? And the letter opener? Does every company use the same iconic swing?
A Few Ideas For Going Beyond Iconic
If someone in your life actually is an avid golfer, here are some great ideas for giving golf-related Christmas gifts: give a gift certificate for one round of golf at his favorite golf course. Alternatively, if you're going on vacation, do some research and find a nice club in the area where you will be going, and get him a gift certificate to this club for a round of golf. This is the male equivalent for those times in life when a man offers a woman a gift certificate for a massage at a spa while they are on vacation.
The reason this is such a good idea is not only because the golfer will appreciate the round of golf...no, the real reason why this gift is one so deeply appreciated is because it shows an understanding of what the golfer would like to do. Many golfers feel selfish for taking family vacation time to go golfing; offering the time to go golfing is a statement of understanding and of appreciation. It won't soon be forgotten, and most likely, there'll be a reciprocal offering, triggered by the happiness of being offered this time to golf... and if we're lucky it will come in the form of a massage certificate.
